The hall is open to the public at 2.45pm with admission of 50p (children are not charged). Tea and biscuits will be on sale until 4.30pm. At 3.30pm there will be the Presentation of awards with cash prizes for children’s entries only. This is followed by the Raffle draw and collection of exhibits.

Chearsley Classic Car and Fun Day - Sunday September 8 from 12pm until 4.30pm. A great family day out is being planned to be held at Chearsley Cricket Ground with free entrance and parking. There will be arena events, classic vehicles on show, pets corner, arts and crafts, children’s rides, face painting, dog agility demonstration, car boot sale, static displays, entertainment, refreshments, coach tours of the surrounding countryside. All profits from the event will go towards cricket equipment for the junior section of Chearsley Cricket club. Car boot pitches cost £5. If you have a classic car which you would like to have on display, there is still time to register. Safety issues prevent cars just turning up on the day. Please email classicfun@chearsley.com for more information, to book a car boot pitch or register your car. Volunteers on the day are required to help the day run smoothly. Any amount of time which could be offered would be gladly accepted to help out, for manning a stall for a while or marshalling cars and plenty of other jobs. Perhaps parents of the junior cricketers, for whose benefit the day is for, would like to volunteer.

Village Plan - The Steering Group overseeing the village plan has decided to extend the closing date for comments from villagers on the final draft version until Friday, September 20th. The Steering Group has realized that it will be necessary for the Topic groups to re-convene to ensure that all the many responses to the draft received so far are given proper consideration. The extra time will also accommodate the villagers who have asked for more time to send in their thoughts . It will also provide an opportunity for any comments following presentations from developers that take place in the next few weeks. The Group would like to thank all those who have already sent in comments and would like to encourage anyone who has still to comment, to do so before the deadline.

Proposed Housing and Village Community Initiative - a reminder that this will take place on Monday September 2 in the village hall. The hall will be open from 10am until 7pm for an informal opportunity to see the Heybrook family’s proposal for their proposed housing and village community scheme, with an opportunity to ask questions and offer feedback. At 7pm there will be a Formal Presentation. This presentation will be repeated on Thursday September 12 from 7 until 9pm with questions afterwards.

Dog Bins - There is now no excuse for any dog walkers not to clear up after their dog around the village. Two bins have now been put up quite prominently – one at the bottom of Church Lane before the footpath to the river and across to Cuddington, and the other further up Church Lane where the footpath goes towards the railway line and Long Crendon. The Parish Council have been discussing and arranging for the installation of the bins for a long time, (whether in fact there was a need for them as the purchase and ongoing management of them is fairly costly) so hopefully dog walkers will find them useful and Chearsley will now be a dog mess free area.

Bingo at The Bell - The Summer holidays must definitely be drawing to a close when Bingo at The Bell is due to start up again after the summer break. Sharon and her staff will be very happy to welcome everyone to the new season of Bingo starting on Tuesday September 3 from about 8.30pm. The now very familiar figures of the two experienced callers, Andy Camden (Two Fat Andys ,88) and Paul Kingsman, will provide the usual evening of banter and laughs, but might well be a little out of practice and will need a lot of support and encouragement. Come along and take part and hopefully go home with a cash prize for a line or full house, or a raffle prize. The Bell offers meals before play starts at a special price for Bingo players, so arrive in good time. Ring Sharon at The Bell on 01844 208077 to book a meal or for more information.

Quiz Night at The Bell - Sunday Quiz nights are starting again after a break on Sunday September 8 at 8pm. Make up a table or come on your own. Everyone is very welcome.
